Intro Calls - What Do We Talk About?

Some people would refer to our intro calls as discovery calls. I use the description intro because introductions feel human and give the feeling of making interpersonal connections. Discovering is wonderful, but feels more related to uncovering objects in an archaeological situation than nurturing new relationships. I am a linguistics nerd and I’m just going to put that on the table right from the start.

In any case, there are a few topics we like to discuss to understand where you’re coming from and where you want to go with your project. And we want you to know what to expect because we want you to feel comfortable and relaxed throughout the photoshoot process with us from start to finish. Mostly we just want to find evidence of a solid client-creative relationship.

Here are some questions to be prepared to answer during our intro call:

EXAMPLE Client intro call questions:

  1. How did you find Range Creative?

  2. Describe your brand in a few sentences.

  3. Why do you do what you do? Why does your brand exist?

  4. What are 5 words you would use to describe the aesthetic aspects of your brand style?

  5. What are the product and purpose of this particular photoshoot?

  6. How many images will you need?

  7. Do you have a shot list?

  8. When would you like to schedule your Photoshoot Design?

  9. When do you need the images?

  10. What is your budget for this project?

These questions are all important for me to have answered in order for us to be able to have a basic understanding of your project and ensure that we can move forward together and provide you with exceptional service.

If you don’t know the answer for every single question we ask, that’s okay. (Please see this post about budgets.)

But the more prepared with answers you are, the more efficiently we can work together and the more likely you are to be super stoked about the results from our partnership. Not to exhibit people pleasing tendencies, but for real, we want you to be ecstatic. I am excited for every single project that we do. I wouldn’t accept the job if I wasn’t. My work will never get old to me. This is my dream. And I want you to be equally fired up with these photos. Let’s make your pictures and engage your audience!
